At least two locally made cut to size pistols and six live cartridges have reportedly been recovered from a suspected traffic robber in Lagos.
The offensive weapons, according to report were recovered from one Adewumi Sodiq 19 yrs. a member of a robbery gang that has been terrorizing Mushin, Oshodi and environ.
He was said to have been apprehended by police operatives attached to Alakara Police Station and the State Anti Robbery Squad inside a Volkswagen Golf saloon car, Lagos taxi colour, while attempting to rob unsuspecting victims of their valuables along Oshodi-Mushin road, Lagos.
The Police Commissioner Lagos Command Edgal Imohimi while confirming the report said they committed the act on 19th January 2019 at about 3.00pm.
His words, ” On the 19/1/2019 at about 0300hrs, information was received from a credible source that some armed robbers were sighted inside a Volkswagen Golf saloon car, Lagos taxi colour, attempting to rob unsuspecting victims of their valuables along Oshodi-Mushin road, Lagos
Based on the information, a combined team of operatives from Alakara Police Station and SARS Ikeja swung into action and trailed the said Car.
On sighting the operatives, the robbers quickly jumped down and took to their heels but luck ran against one of them who was arrested right inside the said vehicle.
He gave his name as Adewumi Sodiq ‘m’ 19 yrs. When he was searched, a cut-to-size locally made pistol with three (3) live cartridges were recovered from him.
He was later taken to his house for further search, during which another cut to size locally made single barrel gun was recovered with three (3) live cartridges, bringing the total number of guns recovered to two (2) locally made guns and six (6) live cartridges.
During interrogation, he confessed that he was a member of the gang terrorizing Mushin and environs.
Investigation is ongoing ‘with a view to arresting fleeing members of the gang. Suspect so far arrested will be charged to court”.
