4 In Police Net Over Burgling Of Rice Shop In Lagos Suburb

Four persons are now cooling their heels in police net in Lagos for allegedly burgling a rice shop,  carting away over 20 bags.

The suspects were said to have burgled the shop located  along Imota-Agbowa road, Ikorodu Lagos on 15th January 2019 at about 8.00pm.

Identified as Yusuf Nasiru, the gang leader, Tope Faleye a.k.a ‘Eniba’  25 yrs, Dare Rasaq  28 yrs and Oshibajo Gbenga 21 yrs, the suspects were said to have been armed to the teeth at the time of the incident.

 

According to report, they  carried out the operation in a white colour Mazda bus, in which they loaded the stolen bags of rice.

Following a credible information, our correspondent gathered that a combined team of Police operatives from Igbogbo Police Station and SARS, Ikorodu base were swiftly mobilized to the scene.

 

On sighting the operatives, the hoodlums were said to have opened fire on them, resulting in an exchange of gun-shots.

Upon the ceasation of the gun duel, one of the suspects  Yusuf  Nasiru was nabbed and his confessional statement led to the arrest of other members of the gang.

While parading the suspects along others on Monday, Police Commissioner Edgal Imohimi disclosed that a cut-to-size locally made double barrel gun with six (6) live cartridges were recovered from the gang leader.

His words, ” On the 15th December, 2018 at about 0200hrs, information was received from a credible source that some armed men operating in a white colour Mazda bus, were seen burgling a Rice-Shop, along Imota-Agbowa road, Ikorodu Lagos.

On receipt of the information, a combined team of Police operatives from Igbogbo Police Station and SARS, Ikorodu base, swiftly mobilized to the scene.

On sighting the operatives, the hoodlums opened fire on them. This led to exchange of gun-shots between the operatives and the robbers.

The firing eventually ceased when one of the robbers surrendered to the Police. He was immediately searched and a cut-to-size locally made double barrel gun with six (6) live cartridges, recovered from him.

 During the interrogation, the arrested suspect gave his name as Yusuf Nasiru ‘m’ and also gave details of fleeing gang members.

The information given by the suspect was worked on, leading to the arrest of the rest of the gang from various locations in Lagos and subsequent recovery of their operational vehicle, a Mazda Bus with Reg. No. KRD-783-XW from the leader of the gang, one Adeneye Ayomide alias ‘Dublin’ ‘m’ 39 yrs, at Mowe, Ogun State.

 The names of other gang members arrested are: Tope Faleye a.k.a ‘Eniba’ ‘m’ 25 yrs, Dare Rasaq ‘m’ 28 yrs and Oshibajo Gbenga ‘m’ 21 yrs.

Investigation is ongoing at the end of which suspects will be charged to court”.
