Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu Speaks On Nigeria's Election, Democracy And Constitution

The leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, says Nigeria cannot enjoy the benefits of democracy through the electoral process.

Kanu, who made this comment on the micro-blogging site, Twitter on Friday morning, stressed that the “benefits of democracy can never be attained through the ballot box” as long as “Nigeria remain yoked to the 1999 Constitution” which he said was ” written by half-baked Fulani military dictators”.

The secessionist leader said this was an “inescapable fact” that Nigerians cannot deny

His words: “As long as Nigeria remain yoked to the 1999 Constitution written by half-baked Fulani military dictators, the benefits of Democracy can never be attained through the ballot box.

“This is an inescapable fact which even the most intellectually impoverished Nigerian cannot deny,” he added.

Meanwhile, Naija News reports that Kanu and his group have on several occasions called on Nigerians from the South East part of the country to boycott the nation’s general elections, an order which has however generated series of controversies with many attacking the IPOB leader.

Kanu is leading a group seeking secession from Nigeria. The group has since been proscribed by the Nigerian government.
