Fear of the unknown has become the order of the day at the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom state following renewed cults attack leading to loss of lives.
Report has it that three students have been allegedly killed at the early hours of Wednesday at the main campus of the University located along Nwaniba Road, Uyo, the state capital.
Some of the students who spoke to newsmen lamented the incessant attacks from cult groups allegedly said have to come from outside the varsity campus.
“Before the last matriculation there were shoot outs. Just yesterday a student was shot dead during a clash between two cult groups at the Annex campus.
“I heard that three more students were shot dead in the early hours of today (Wednesday) at the Main Campus, Nwaniba, even though I have not confirmed that yet. We are afraid that the cult groups that lost their members may come for reprisal”
Reportedly, a 300 level student of the department of Communication Arts identified as Fatherwills Ukpankere whose dead body was found behind the Barth Ebong Auditorium was allegedly killed during the cult clash of Tuesday, this week.
Director of Information, Students Union Government, Mfon John said, the Union was yet to confirm whether the person killed on Tuesday clash was a student of the University of Uyo.
When also contacted, the director of information, Mrs. Blossom Okorie said the incident has been reported to the police.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Odiko MacDon said the police are aware of the incident adding that the Commissioner of Police was trying to meet with the management of the University, in order to strategize on how to tackle the menace and ensure adequate security for the university”
