The Senator representing Kaduna Central, Distinguished Senator Shehu Sani has said that the deteriorating security situation in Birnin Gwari and environs deserves urgent interventions and funds.
He expressed this, when a group under the aegis of Birnin Gwari Emirate Progressive Union, led by Nasir Khalid its Vice Chairman, paid a courtesy call on Senator representing Kaduna Central, Distinguished Senator Shehu Sani at his residence in Kaduna on Tuesday April 23, 2019, alongside 30 other groups from the area.
“My advise to you is go back to Birnin Gwari, set up a N10bn appeal fund for security and ask those you elected and us that have served you to contribute to the fund,” he advised.
He told them that after raising the funds, they can then think of what to do with it.
“Things you can do with it includes buying gadgets and vehicles for vigilante groups who are willing to sacrifice lives to secure you,” he added.
He told the delegation that on his part, he is willing to contribute to the fund, just as he has been concerned about their welfare over the last four years.
“Two months ago, five of your vigilante were killed, I sent N250k to each of their families and donated vehicles for security,” he disclosed.
Senator Sani advised the people to stop being subservient and protest against the insecurity they are facing.
“It is time to end being subservient for people in power who don’t really care about you. I assure you your letters will be delivered to the NASS,” he said.
