A fatal accident in Niger state involving a Golf Wagon and a trailer has seen no less than 7 people dead. The road crash occurred at Kampanin Doruwa in Paikoro local government area of the State at about 6:00 in the evening, Channels TV reports.
A team of the Joint Taskforce covering MINNA Kwakuti axis on patrol came across the accident. The leader of the team who declined to mention his name said information gathered showed the accident was due to wrongful overtaking and overspeeding.
The Golf with Number plate DKA 859 ZP was carrying seven passengers from Suleja to Minna and collided with the oncoming trailer with Registration Number DBT 575 XA. Seven of the passengers have been confirmed dead by medical doctors at the General Hospital Minna.
The remains of the victims have been deposited at the Minna General Hospital by the JTF team. When contacted, the FRSC Public Relations Officer in Niger State, Habibu Egigogo declined to give details on the accident as he claimed it was not within his power to do so.

They were reportedly on their way to Funtia, Katsina state on Saturday evening, January 19. According to online reports, the victims were on their way home from a wedding when the accident happened.

Fawziya, a Quantity Survey graduate of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi State, has her wedding scheduled for 11:00am at Gwallaga mosque, on December 29th, but died a sudden death on December 28th.
A bride whose husband was killed two hours after their wedding in a bloody car wreck outside the reception hall was buried next to him Friday as family and friends wept and held one another in their grief. ‘Little did anyone ever realize that the vow ’till death do us part’ would come so quickly for this young couple in this tragic event,’ said the Rev. Thomas DeVita who performed the funeral mass at St. James’ Roman Catholic Church.
About 650 mourners jammed into the church to say goodbye to Carol Zagorski Phillips, 24, who died Tuesday without ever knowing her husband had been killed. The bride and her fiance, Peter Phillips, 27, were married at St. James April 4. Two hours later, as the couple traveled to the reception, a car slammed into their hired limousine, killing Phillips and mortally injuring his new wife.
‘I know that as Christ rose to heaven that both Peter and Carol Ann are joined together as they were joined together in matrimony,’ DeVita said in the funeral mass as family and friends wept and many held hands and hugged one another in their grief. The groom’s brother, John Phillips, 29, who was best man, also was killed in the bloody crash as the limousine carrying the wedding party made a left turn into The Sands at Lido, a reception hall in Lido Beach, N.Y. The bride’s sister, Debra Zagorsky, 22, was severely injured in the crash. She had to be helped from a van into a wheelchair as she arrived for the funeral.
