David Umahi of Ebonyi State.

Governor David Umahi yesterday vowed to halt all poorly executed federal projects in Ebonyi, insisting that he is constitutionally empowered to do so.

Commissioning yesterday the new complex of the state command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Abakaliki, the governor said he stopped the solar light projects undertaken by one Senator Sunny Ogbuoji for poor execution.

He then warned contractors handling federal projects in the state to abide by specifications.

Umahi noted: “This building is identical with what we do. You can see the quality, you can see the finishing. I can declare that this project is fit to be in Ebonyi State.”

“I was talking to a group of people and I told them I want to appoint a Permanent Secretary on federal projects and they asked me if I can stop a federal project. And I responded that anybody can stop any project whether it is federal, state or anywhere. It is your money, it is my money. We all have the right to stop badly executed projects.”
