Visitors Scamper For Safety, As Suspected Cultist Breaks Handcuffs, Vandalises 16 Vehicles At Police Station

Visitors and Policemen at Sango Police Station were stunned at the weekend, as a suspected cultists broke  the handcuffs on his wrists and smashed at least 16 out of the vehicles parked in the station with an axe.

The 26-year-old suspect was said to have been arrested on Friday for alleged assault and brought to the station.

Our correspondent gathered that the suspect was arrested by Police officers for assaulting a young lady at Sango Otta area of Ogun State.

The suspect was  said to have turned violent,  hence  he was handcuffed at the DCB office.

As reliably learnt, he suddenly broke the hand-cuff, grabbed an axe to attack anyone insight, but they scampered for safety in different directions.

According to witness, he then turned to the vehicles parked within the premises and smached the wind-screen of 16 of them with the axe.

Rattled by the violent act, a police man was said to have  shot at the leg when he  attempted to attack and dis-arm a superior officer.

Sources said he has made a confessional statement to be a member of Aiye Confraternity, and that his mission is to release every cultist that were in Police detention.

He was said to have stunned his victims the more, as he showed no sign of remorse, but appealed to allow him call his father before he died.

Efforts to get the comments of the Command’s public relations officer DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi on the matter proved abortive as he could not be reached.
